When traditional braces aren’t an option
How many times have you looked in the mirror and wished that your teeth were straighter? If you’re like most people, you realize that you tend to hold back your smile when your teeth are not straight. Yet traditional braces aren’t really an option for you, for whatever reason.
Invisalign uses clear aligners that are barely noticeable
Invisalign has helped many people who once thought that the opportunity for a straighter smile had passed them by. Most adults don’t want to have metal braces for everyone to see; neither do teenagers. Invisalign clear aligners were created with the goalkeeping your dental work discreet and showing off your smile, not your treatment.
So how does Invisalign work?
Each patient receives a new, thin, clear, bio-compatible plastic aligner once every week. The aligner slips over the teeth and gradually and gently pushes them into alignment. It takes about one week for each aligner to complete its range of movement, we normally see you every four to five weeks.
What makes Invisalign aligners different from traditional braces (aside from the fact that they are clear) is that they can be removed whenever needed. When you need to brush your teeth or floss, the aligners can be removed. If you have a special event and don’t want to wear the aligner, you can take it out for a few hours.
Most Invisalign patients will have their treatment completed in about 14 months. Some may take longer, some shorter, but the result will be a straighter smile. (The average time for an Invisalign treatment is 14 months, and some treatments are as few as 3 months.)
