Creating A Great Smile With Invisalign/Aligner Treatment
If you have a tooth or multiple teeth which are crooked or have small chips in them and want to be able to smile with confidence, then Invisalign/aligner treatment may be a great option for you.
Invisalign is a global company listed on the New York stock exchange who have been around since the late 1990’s. Eight million people have received Invisalign treatment, and 40,000 aligners are manufactured each day.
The Invisalign system is a virtually invisible and hygienic orthodontic treatment that uses an innovative approach to effectively straighten teeth. With a proprietary technology, the Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made removable aligners created for you and only you.
The aligners are made of a slightly elastic clear material that you wear over your teeth to gradually move them to the ideal position. Most people won’t even notice that you are wearing them, allowing you to keep your lifestyle during treatment. They are similar to contact lenses used for eyes.
In many situations Invisalign treatment can work faster than getting braces, as multi-plane movements can start to occur from day one. The aligners can be removed for eating and, if necessary, for a few hours if you are going out for the evening. Otherwise, you sleep with them in and wear them for twenty-two hours per day.
Because the aligners are removable, you can both eat and brush your teeth normally. After adapting to wearing them, within a few weeks most people find them extremely easy to get used to, with minimal discomfort as the forces created are light and defined. Each aligner can move teeth up to ¼ of a millimetre and two degrees of rotation.
A few of the celebrities who have had their smiles perfected by visiting an Invisalign doctor include Justin Bieber, Khloe Kardashian, Serena Williams and Oprah Winfrey. Below is a short video of a virtual plan for one of our patients that is the required first step for all Invisalign treatments.
